Gold Coast

I was lucky enough to be chosen to join fellow tourism Instagrammers for the first Gold Coast sponsored insta meet.

My day started bright and early at 3am as I wanted to get some star photos at the beach before sunrise. The shores washing as the sun was making its way up was beautiful, especially with the city lights not gone to sleep just yet.

I quickly made my way over to the meeting point for Sunrise at Snapper Rocks, popular surfing spot now populated with Instagrammers.

We walked over the hill and up to Duranbah, along the states boarder. I got my morning coffee fix at Cafe Dbah. My selection was poached eggs with smashed avocado & pesto. It was delicious, not to mention a beautiful view of the ocean as you ate.

We jumped on our bus and headed over to Burleigh Heads National Park, where we were greeted by our aboriginal tour guide that will walk us through the indigenous land.

Back towards currumbin we went. This was my favourite part of the day as I'm sure many others... Exclusive access to the Koala enclosure to spend some time up close.

A beautiful warm day ended with delicious decadent lunch at Oskars on Burleigh.
Lovely views of the oceans as we dined with wine. My entree was stuffed Zucchini flowers, with goats cheese. For mains I ordered the Grilled Swordfish with citrus salad & potato fondant. Both meals wonderfully plated, the service was excellent.

The was a wonderful journey around the Gold Coast, some places I had visited and some I hadn't been to since I was a wee tot.

Christmas for budget travellers.

Excellent! So it's halfway through November now, and you've probably started buying gifts and organising Christmas plans.
Christmas is one of the hardest times to find flights, in or out of your destination. So here's my tips for getting out and being able to relax when it's Christmas and be with your loved ones. All these tips will help pinch the pennies, promise!

Mid-Week Savings.
Pick to fly on a Saturday, or even Thursday. Avoid the beginnings of weekends, as that's when most people working Monday-Friday will be booking flights. Usually flight companies will be jacking up the prices on these days.

Early bird catches the flight.
See if you can nab a super early bird flight, and I don't mean just booking early. I mean waking up at 3am and leaving for the airport with sleep in your eyes.

Pack Light.
New laws have come into place with Jetstar, Carry on luggage has now been reduced to 7 Kilos. Don't get caught out, especially if it's an international flight - You'd be copping a $160 fine for extra weight.

Compare!
This advice should be already known. Websites like FlightCentre & Apps like SkyScanner take the hard work out of searching for the most affordable price, and collate the information for you. You can even watch flights if you aren't quite ready to book, and see if their prices fluctuate or reduce.

Happy holidays everyone!
